The Creative Process

I’m in the process of trying to get a new project off of the ground (and hopefully be able to announce it soon here) and it feels great. One thing I’ve always enjoyed, regardless of the medium, is creating.

Some people create solely as a business venture, it’s success depending only about views, listens, and money earned. That’s fine if that’s you and I’m definitely not going to turn down anyone who wants to offer me a million dollars for something I create but I figure the odds of someone offering me five bucks is pretty unlikely.

In a very real sense, though, just making something serves as its own reward. Building something, watching it grow and take shape makes the countless hours that I’ve put into various creative endeavors over the years completely worthwhile.

That even includes the many (many, many) projects I’ve worked on that have dead ended, stalled out or just flat out failed over the years, even they were fun while they lasted. So I don’t think I’m going to stop any time soon. I’ll keep pushing on looking for something new to create and develop. Watch them grow and, when they’ve run their course, move on.

That’s the process of creation.
